Medical Treatment

Workers’ Compensation is supposed to provide for medical treatment that will cure or relieve a worker needed because of work related injuries. A worker is often forced to choose a doctor from an employer’s Medical Provider Network and then the requests from that doctor are put through Utilization Review, which is an approval process for requested treatment. In the event that the treatment is denied, that denial can be appealed both through an internal utilization review and Independent Medical Review. In some instances, those denials can be challenged in court.

Medical Treatment also includes mileage. You should keep track of your medical treatment mileage to insure that you are properly compensated for it.

At Silberman and Lam, LLP we have a department dedicated to conducting the appeals and providing medical reports to these companies to help maximize the chances of approvals for treatment in your case.
